I have been a professional Writing Consultant, Editor, and professor for over ten years. My training in writing consulting began at Oberlin College, where I worked in my first university writing center and studied teaching and tutoring across the disciplines. I then went on to apply my training in teaching writing across the disciplines through my teaching in the disciplines of history, religious studies, political science, and university writing programs. I have a Ph.D. in International Studies from the University of Denver. I am also a writer of historical fiction (my blog is available at wordpress.....). Finally, I also bring professional theatre experience to the table, with a focus on Shakespeare. Writing students can expect to learn practical strategies and tools to help them become stronger writers. Through lessons, students will learn not only the tools that will help them develop strong language, reasoning, and organization skills, but they will also learn to trust their own writer's voice. Good writing is about craft, persistence, attention to each stage of the process, and being authentic to one's own ideas.
