I'm an
Individual
I am a young physician (U. of Cincinnati College of Medicine, class of 2011) with 7 years of MCAT teaching experience for a well-known test prep company. I have mentored and taught the MCAT to hundreds of pre-medical students who have went on to matriculate into medical school. Through my tenure of teaching this test, I have gained the expertise needed to help you master this predictable standardized test. Some of the things I will help you with are: develop a realistic and efficient study plan, help you with MCAT specific test strategies, and guide you through any of the science content that you need help understanding. I am familiar with all of the listed topics found within the 10 Foundational Concepts defined by the AAMC (the organization that writes the MCAT). I will also demonstrate how to approach the passages and questions in the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Section (Verbal Reasoning section). This is not a "content" test, but rather a critical thinking test, thus, the traditional model of studying that got you through your college classes is not going to cut it. The emphasis of your studies needs to focus heavily on doing practice MCAT questions, and less time reading and re-reading content review books (a common mistake made by students taking the MCAT). This new MCAT test is a marathon in regards to its duration (approximately 7 hours and 30 minutes). As a result, you HAVE to take an intense and methodical approach to your studies, I will keep you accountable by supporting you and coaching you to stick to your study plan. I will show you how recognize your mistakes on practice tests and how to correct them. I will also show you strategies to improve your score, point out the key classic "MCAT language, and teach you critical thinking skills such as the ability to analyze and make predictions from multiple venues of science data, whether it be in a form of a graph, table, or diagram. Given your desire to become a physician and that this test is THE single most important variable in your application to medical school, you need to maximize your your time and energy in studying for this test. In other words, this test is as important as the food on your plate. My schedule is very flexible and I am very happy to meet with you in a public place of your choice for our tutoring sessions. I am also happy to meet and tutor you online as I do for several students across the country this way (I have all the necessary hardware and software to effectively provide excellent service). Additionally, given that I have been in your shoes and have gone through the entire application process, medical school, and residency, I can serve as a mentor to you during this process. As a 4th year medical student, I served on the Admissions committee, thus, I can provide you with helpful advice for your application to medical school. Commercial tutoring services charge anywhere between $150 to $350 per hour of tutoring for the MCAT, I charge $75 per hour. This can be paid on a "per session" schedule or as a package. I do accept payment via PayPal or Google Wallet. I give a "per hour" discount with packages of 15 hours, 25 hours, and 35 hours. Most of my students have purchased between 10 to 35 hours. You will have an opportunity to interview me before paying anything to see if I am the right fit for you. I am happy to meet or talk with you in person or online. Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for taking the time to view this and good luck in your studies!!
