I'm an
Individual
Our Chess Instructors help lead classes in chess rules, tactics, and etiquette. Students average 4-12 y/o, classes from 6 to 30 students, usually lasting 45-60 minutes in one of several time slots. Work with students to help them learn self-discipline, focus, and critical thinking skills, all while having fun playing board games. For those of you looking for a career in education, this position can equate to a paid internship, with paid-for training and certifications, and hands-on field experience in classroom organization, group dynamics, curriculum usage, student relations, and more. If you're looking for a career in management, our Lead Instructors also gain field experience in employee training, supervision, program development, and client relations. Our ideal candidate enjoys working with kids, exhibits patience, cheerfulness, punctuality, and professionalism, and either has reliable transportation or is willing to carpool. Fully trainable entry-level position, we provide all (yes, all!) training necessary for you to teach the entire game of chess. Work in pairs with a lead instructor for support and training, then take on additional responsibilities and titles as you become ready for them. Flexible schedules, work as little as 1-2 hours a week or as much as 20, based on your schedule. This position tends to work great for college students, or even as a second part-time job for supplemental income. Literally dozens of locations around the city, teaching at local schools, libraries, and other institutions from Lenexa to Lee's Summit and Leavenworth to Liberty, and everywhere in between. Opportunities to carpool possible upon request. Many opportunities for advancement and leadership, in a rapidly growing locally-owned small business. We promote in-house first, and we anticipate full-time openings in the next few years, in the areas of Marketing, Photography & PR, Website Development & Maintenance, Science, Robotics, Foreign Languages, Martial Arts, Music, Sales, Regional Management, and more, alongside our primary focus of Education. Starting pay $15/hr. 2 annual performance reviews with objective promotion requirements and regular opportunities for promotions & raises. First raise after approx. 2-3 semesters, to $20/hr, with good evaluations.
