I strive to build the self-esteem of students and encourage understanding. I specialize in tutoring Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II and College Algebra. These are courses that I have both taught and tutor. These courses are the foundation courses and are vital to success in establishing an overall mathematical understanding. For this reason I find it very important that students understand what they are doing and why. Therefore I make engaging lessons that develop student critical thinking and problem solving skills. It is often stated that the language associated with mathematics is like a foreign language. In order to understand how to manipulate problems one most understand what is being asked. So I place a strong emphasis on vocabulary. We will spend time understanding the language of mathematics in an effort to enhance overall understanding of concepts.
