Tutor Job in Lahaina, Hawaii

Aloha! We are currently a small, private tutoring company that helps children all over Maui and those on vacation. We work on reading and writing with students as young as four years old, help with homework, test prep, college essays, and specialize in grad school level math and science. Now, we're looking to expand. We're looking for people who are interested in 1-on-1 tutoring as a part time job, but consider it something that they can grow with in the future. We don't follow any specific methods or guidelines because we feel it closes some people off, and we prefer to work to the child/parent needs. If you think you could work within a model with less structure, but be willing to collaboration on new ideas, you're looking in the right spot! We also hold fall, winter, spring, and summer camps that have a dual focus on academics and activities, because we know that in order to enjoy school and learning, you have to be able to relate these classroom activities to a bigger, more exciting experience. Qualifications: Bachelors degree from accredited university Flexible schedule Works well with students and parents Recommendations: Math skills through or past Calculus Science through or past AP Chem and AP Physical Masters or Doctorate Degree You do not need previous experience as a tutor to apply. We're specifically looking for people who can help with Pre-Calc and higher level math, AP/college Chemistry and Physics, and have flexible schedules, but again, we will consider all interested and qualified applicants. Unlike other tutoring companies, we don't have a formal training session, because, as you saw above, we don't have formal policies when it comes to learning to read or do math. We do require 8-10 hours of tutoring with a variety of students, though, to see where you fit best and are the most comfortable. After this time, we offer a VERY COMPETITIVE pay rate.
