Chebucto Connections Spryfield Pathways to Education reduces poverty and its effects by lowering the drop out rate among high school students from economically disadvantaged communities. Pathways works to increase high school graduation rates and help youth pursue post-secondary education and/or find meaningful employment. We are in need of volunteers for our academic support sessions for students (Grades 9-12). Volunteers work with youth both one-on-one and in small groups (up to 5 students) within a larger group setting, supporting the youth with academic tasks such as homework, assignments, projects, etc. In addition to an understanding of academic content, tutors should be able to establish relationships with students based on shared respect, responsibility, and non-judgment. The ability to communicate with sensitivity to cultural and social differences is essential in developing a positive learning environment. Our Academic Support sessions run from Monday - Thursday during the following times: 3:15-4:15pm 4:30-5:30pm 5:45 - 6:45pm Whatever your skills and talents are, there is a member of our community who could benefit from your experience! If you are passionate about working with youth and making a difference in your community, or you would like more information please contact Sarah Bray (Volunteer Coordinator) at [email protected] or by phone at 902-818-....
