Passing on what I've been given: that's the heart of education, and my goal as a tutor. I have been privileged to see much of the world, encounter diverse cultures, and learn languages like Mandarin Chinese, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Japanese (in descending order of experience). It is this range of cultural, linguistic, and social experience that I desire to share with others. After studying Latin and German in high school, I went on to major in German at the college level. I also studied in Germany after winning a grant for the summer of 1999. Weeks after graduating, I went to Taiwan to teach English as a Second Language (ESL), though I also tutored German and various other subjects over the years. After almost ten years in Taiwan, my Mandarin Chinese was advanced enough to provide direct interpretation for weddings, church services, travel groups, business interviews, etc., as well as translation for religious, scientific, and historical documents. After returning to America in 2012, I taught German at the high school level, but now I primarily focus on being an interpreter for Chinese-speaking patients and students. Aside from direct instruction in Chinese and German, I also provide rigorous philosophical and literary instruction across the humanities in English, including how to deliver speeches and perform in debates.
