Hello! My name is Alix Ciferri and I am a New York State Certified Teacher in Adolescence Education with a concentration in English. Reading and writing are my specialty, but I have a thirst for knowledge and love all subject areas. I have four years experience working with children of all ages in various educational settings including schools, youth shelters, and summer camps. My first tutoring position started in my college's writing center where I helped college students improve their writing skills and brainstorm interesting topics. I was hooked on teaching ever since! After graduating college, I decided to continue working as a residential counselor at a runaway shelter for at-risk youth, but I was able to expand my position to include certified tutor. In this position, I have developed my own curriculum designed specifically for students of all educational abilities and needs that allows them to explore their minds and books in a creative atmosphere. I am hoping to find other tutoring opportunities that allow me to expand my skills as a teacher and give the individual help that all students deserve.
