I have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of students of all ages ranging from elementary math to advanced college courses, both privately and in large classrooms. I also believe that all students are different. Different students have different strengths and weaknesses. Different students also have different goals. Some students just need help passing a class ... while other students want to always be a chapter ahead ... and then I have had other students who want me to teach them an entire year’s worth of Trigonometry during the summer before school actually starts. Every student is different and I always create lessons that are customized to the student’s needs and goals. I am a strong believer in teaching the student to become the teacher ... to learn how to take complicated material and break it down themselves. I like to follow the philosophy that is stated so perfectly by Albert Einstein ... If you cannot explain it simply, you do not understand it well enough. To ensure that the student has a full understanding of the material, I always ask the student to teach what I have taught back to me as if I were a 5 year old trying to learn.
