I'm an
Individual
Service: Most students who have felt difficult in those science subjects, especially Physics and Maths, have never thought or heard of what good (efficient) studying methods are and never "think" in the right way. Physics and Maths to me are the most straightforward fields because if you think about it right, it's so hard to even get it wrong. My work is mostly devoted into teaching students how to think and how to tackle problems. Besides that, I will talk about many related subjects and examples to relate what they learn with what really happens in this universe and hopefully they would gain more interests in what they are doing. With their positive minds and attitudes, the hard working plus the right methods, the students would get what they want. Preferred Subjects: SAT 2 Physics, SAT/SAT 2 Maths, AP Physics and Maths, high school level algebra, College level algebra, pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, Differential Equations, Trigonometry, College level Physics 1(Mechanics), Physics 2 (E&M) Education: University of Kansas, Double major in Mathematics and Physics (finished within 3 years); GPA: 3.8. (20...) Rice University, PhD in Physics, (2013--2...) Experience: Currently, I am attending Rice University as a PhD student, working on Heavy Ion Nuclear physics at CMS, CERN. As an undergraduate student at University of Kansas, I finished my double majors, Mathematics and Physics, within 3 years. Starting from the second year, I became one of the official Tutors in Mathematics department, teaching Ordinary Differential Equations till the last day of my college. The reason as why I could finish two science degrees within 3 years is because I took 8 AP exams before I came to U.S, 6 of which were perfect scores. One and a half months of studying AP courses by my own not only helped my understanding of those subjects but also well prepared my college studies. (Also perfect scores of SAT 2 Physics and Maths.) In addition, I chose to be an undergraduate researcher in High Energy Nuclear Physics during the same time as a Maths tutor. In the summer of 2012 as well as winter 2013, I have gone to the Large Hadron Collider (CERN, Switzerland) to work on our projects from KU with those top physicists in the world. By the end of my undergraduate study, I finally became one of the authors on one of the published CMS notes. Hobbies: With those years of passions in teaching, not only the students that I have taught improved their subjects, but also the experiences have provided myself an opportunity to help others and refreshed what I have known. It is always a pleasure to see how people gets better and make them become confident. Besides the interests in physics, I also like backcountry hiking, climbing, and traveling around the world.
