Tutor in Portland, Oregon

I'm an
Individual
Hey, My name is Connor Favreau. I am 26 and I have a Masters in Physics, offering science and math tutoring in the Portland area. I taught Introductory Physics I labs for three years at the college level, both Cal-based and Non-cal-based. In addition, I've also privately tutored all levels of Physics (Concepts, Intro 1 and 2, Cal-based and Non-cal-based) over the last three years. Before that, I worked in a tutoring lab for three additional years. My Bachelors is in Physics and Philosophy with a double minor in Biology and Chemistry. Back in the day, I was planning on attending Dental School, but dropped out when I realized I had a passion for teaching. I love teaching and talking to pre-health students, though. All of my tutoring has been at the college level, but realistically I could also tutor high school, especially for admissions tests like the ACT and SAT. Full list of classes for which I can tutor: Introductory Physics I and II, Trig-based or Cal-based, Introductory Math Courses, Calculus, SAT and ACT Math (received a 780 and 34 respectively). GRE Math (168), the DAT (dental admissions test: received 23 AA, 22 SA, 22 Perceptual), General and Organic Chemistry, and Introductory Biology. Aside from tutoring I do research remotely, for which the hours are very flexible. I am flexible as to where and when I can meet. For Physics and for Admissions tests, I charge $30 an hour. For everything else, because I'm not as experienced in them, I charge $25 an hour. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I first met Connor when he was a class advisor for Physics 1600 (calculus based physics). I had to take physics in order to fulfill my Navy scholarship requirements. I am not strong at all in physics or math. I had heard that Connor tutored outside of class, and I immediately came to ask for his help after the first class. We met twice, sometimes three times a week, going through practice and homework problems. Connor walked me through each problem, step by step, and answered any questions I had. He came up with creative and simple ways for me to remember equations or complex processes. There would be times that he would meet me for an extra session before tests. Connor is very patient, smart, kind, and easy going. I went to Connor for both Physics I and Physics II, and he was great in both sections. I passed both classes with flying colors. I highly recommend Connor as a physics tutor. He will work with you and push you to get the highest grade you can get. If you can work with him, you will not regret it!

Connor was a teaching assistant for my Physics 1 class. I had never taken physics before and had not taken a math class since 2 years before so I knew I would need help. Connor was able to help me through every aspect of the physics class. He would help me with the homework and clearly answer all my questions. He was able to explain terms and answers to questions in many different ways if I was unable to understand it the first time. I would highly recommend Connor to anyone who needs a tutor as he is extremely helpful and is able to push you to understand and excel in physics.
