ABOUT ME:: Kate Pamplin graduated in May 2012 from Abilene Christian University(ACU) with a degree in Vocal Music Education. While at ACU, Kate studied with Mr. Samuel Cook and Dr. Michael Scarbrough. During her recent stay in Rochester, NY, she took lessons from Eastman professor Dr. Robert McIver. She is currently teaching private voice, piano, and winds in the Austin ISD and Hays CISD as well as working with the Akins HS band as a marching tech this season. Kate was the choral director for Greece Community Education's "Fine Arts Camp" in July 2013. In the Fall of 2012, Kate served as an intern for Hochstein School of Music and Dance's "Hochstein Youth Singers" under the wonderful direction of Maryellen Giese. Kate is a classical singer, where her primary focus is on opera. Recently, Kate portrayed The Gardener from Vittorio Giannini's "Beauty and the Beast" (2013 production by Rochester Lyric Opera). In college, she portrayed Mother from "Amahl and the Night Visitors", Magda Sorel from "The Consul" and Michaela from "Carmen". In 2011, she participated in the chorus of the Abilene Opera Association's production of "Don Giovanni". In 2011-201..., Kate served as the opera assistant for Dr. Rick Piersall. Kate Pamplin has also enjoyed opportunities as a soloist. In the spring of 2014, Kate performed in Rochester Lyric Opera's Local Vocal night. In the fall of 2012, Kate sang the Brahms "Liebeslieder" with Resonanz for the eclectic ballet company known as Biodance. Prior to receiving her diploma, Kate soloed both in University Chorale and in the A Cappella chorus and was accompanied by the ACU Orchestra where she sang "je dis que rien ne m'épouvante" from Bizet's "Carmen." Being a musician involves some level of competition. In 2010 and 2011, Kate was a semi-finalist at the Texoma NATS Competition. In 2011, she also became a recipient of the Hall Endowed Vocal Scholarship. Though Kate has accomplished several things as a singer, she began her musical journey as an instrumentalist. Her primary instrument prior to voice was bassoon, and she enjoyed playing as principal bassoonist at Abilene Christian University for four years. In high school, she made the TMEA 4A All-State Band, made a DIV I at TSSEC, and enjoyed playing in several top ensembles at summer band camps.
