I'm an
Individual
Even when I was a freshman in high school, I realized how much I enjoy helping others, particularly with regards to education. I wanted to teach others and help them understand difficult subjects, such as biology and geometry. As I matured through high school and college, I expanded my own definition of “tutoring” to include mentoring not only academic subjects but also life skills. In my opinion, “self-help” intellectual spheres lack fundamental academic prowess while formally trained teachers often lack the ability to motivate and inspire. I believe that being an effective tutor combines attributes of both. As someone who has had enough good teachers and role models, as well as many not very good ones, I know how important it is to have these people in your life. Now, I want to fulfill that role to up-and-coming students, as both a mentor and a teacher.
By investing in the next generation, I want to leave a legacy that I can be proud of. Being a student to others for over 15 years and spending about 4 of those years teaching others myself, I have the dedication and commitment to take on the tasks required to be effective. It is important to me that I pass on knowledge and skills to those in need, people who have yet to obtain them and are willing to learn. I am intimately familiar with the public school system and have practical knowledge of logistics as well as the passion and drive to succeed. I want to lift up others in life, so that they can reach their own goals.
For experience, I am most adept at teaching math and biology, although I have had limited experience teaching history as well (if your designated student does not show up, the public school eagerly provided you with another, forcing both parties to quickly adapt to new situations). Even unprepared, I showed a stubborn willingness to helps others succeed.
