Tutor in Durham, North Carolina
I'm an
Individual
I absolutely love statistics and want to share my passion with others. More importantly, I wholeheartedly believe that a solid grasp of this subject is the number one skill every person needs if they want to be discerning and productive citizens in this age of information.
My soft skills:
*I have a logical and analytical mind, but I am also very socially intuitive and creative. This combination of traits makes me an invaluable tutor of a dry subject such as statistics because I am able to teach it in a very personable and relatable way.
* I organize and plan very well, and can help others with these aspects.
My raw qualifications:
I have taken many college statistics courses starting with the basic first year Stat 101, all the way to the advanced courses dealing with analysis and statistical software. Here is a list of my courses both in stats and relevant fields:
*Statistical Regression and Design of Experiments;
*Statistical Probability;
*Nonparametric Statistics;
*Computer Programming in Life Sciences;
*Linear Algebra;
*Discreet Mathematics;
*Calculus 1,2,3
I received a Bachelor of Science in Zoology with a concentration in statistics from Miami University (Oxford Ohio). My college GPA for statistics classes was 3.9.
I've worked four years in a neuroscience research laboratory conducting experiments--an experience that ended with my becoming a published author in a peer reviewed journal.
I am currently working at a pharmaceutical company, while taking masters level statistics and analytics classes. My goal is to transition from scientist to analytical consultant.
My hobbies and interests are very diverse. When I'm not working with statistics, I love learning computer programming, website design and development, graphic design, physics and technical writing. I often work as a technical editor for graduate students' research papers.
I'm also a talented and active artist; I focus on painting and drawing, but also excel at carving, sculpting, and photography.
Some of my other big hobbies are furniture refinishing, ballroom dancing, and rally car driving.
