Teaching has always remained a part and parcel of my life. Let's face it learning is an ongoing process that never cease to end. My first teaching experience began long back, when I used to tutor my fellow classmates in high school with their mathematics and science questions. The one big lesson I learned from many of the fellow classmates that I helped is, they all had the will to learn but just needed some one to explain the concept in a way that is easy for them to comprehend. This experience shaped my thought about teaching all along. I learned that teaching is not merely a transfer of information, but rather a process that shapes the mind and allows to build confidence and skills in a student, so that they can take on newer tasks. I graduated from Fairmont State University in the beautiful wild and wonderful state of West Virginia with a Bachelor's degree. I majored in political science with a minor in mathematics. My passion for teaching carried through from my high school life in to the college life as well. As a senior I worked as a undergraduate teaching assistant in an introductory mathematics class. My primary responsibility included an hour of recitation where I would work with the students to solve homework problems and any other questions they may have on the week's material. I also volunteered to help students who came in to the MATHCLUB with questions. While I am not busy with school work and classes, I have always assisted my nieces and nephews with their elementary school science, grammar, phonics and reading questions. After graduating from college I worked for the federal government. Although I was busy with work, I did not give up my passion for teaching. I continued to be a private tutor in many areas of mathematics, science and English. I have helped numerous students achieve their target scores on SAT, AP and ACT exams. My tutoring sessions are always thorough and all student/parent(s) concerns taken seriously. I always take the time with a student and work like today was my first day on the job. There is never a dull moment. My tutoring sessions are not only productive but also fun filled, so students find learning lot more enjoyable.
