Tutor in Brooklyn, New York

I am a tutor able to teach ELA, the humanities, social studies, and philosophy, to middle school and high school students. State Regents exams are coming up, and I can be of great assistance. I can also help write college and scholarship essays. I charge $20/hour. I am currently a grad student at NYU studying to become a social worker (M.S.W.), and I have a B.A. in philosophy from Kenyon College, a top ranked liberal arts college in Ohio. I am an excellent writer, and I am very well read. I am also very familiar with literary critical theories and other philosophical theories that will help take your child's understanding of the text to a much higher level. Working together, I will open up your child's mind and push them to think critically and creatively. As for my resume, I have taught Hebrew to 3rd grade students, and have taught ELA to 6th grade students in the NYC public school system. I have tutored middle school students in math and in ELA. I have also created and facilitated after school clubs introducing philosophy to middle school aged scholars and have run tutor groups in after school. I am also very good with kids and adolescents, as I have extensive work experience as a social work student and counselor with kids, teens, and young adults. I am willing to travel to Brooklyn and Manhattan, although you are free to come to me in BK as well.
