Tutor Job in Moorhead, Minnesota

Overview: We are looking for a passionate educator to tutor our 8th grade son. He cares about his learning and has shown immense progress in many areas over the past year, but has lacked the support he needs to make growth in the area of writing, one of his weakest areas. About Isaac: Isaac is an 8th grade boy with high functioning Aspergers syndrome. He is in special education, but takes mostly mainstreamed classes with peers. Isaac loves playing football and gym is definitely his favorite class at school. Nervous and a little quiet around peers, but one of the most loving kids you’ll ever meet when you see him at home with his family. Isaac has a huge heart and cares so much. Isaac responds especially well to male role models at this stage in his life. Role Needed: A writing tutor for 1-on-1 support in growing Isaac’s writing abilities using step-by-step writing strategy to help him build core writing skills. Time Commitment: We would like Isaac to be tutored for 1.5-2 hours per session, 1-2 times per week. We’d like to have a tutor commit to 6-9 months with us (a school year). Availability: Isaac is available for tutoring Monday-Friday after school from 4p-5:30p or on Saturday-Sunday from 12pm-5pm. *Possibility of more hours during the summer as well! (June-August) Compensation: Based on education, licensure, and experience, we’d like to compensate our tutor at a rate of $12-$30 per hour. For example, licensed teacher in the area of special education or language arts would receive $30 per hour.
