I have always loved helping others no matter the setting, however, helping someone succeed in their studies is by far the most fulfilling feeling. I have had my personal successes in academics, however, I did not achieve these successes alone. I have been surrounded by teachers and mentors willing to go the extra mile to help me succeed. Having been exposed to this through all my years of school, that's the type of tutor I am, one who will stretch the extra mile to help your student be successful in the classroom, recognizing their fullest potential! I am currently a second year undergraduate student pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Management and Protection from California Polytechnic State University. At Cal Poly we have a motto called "Learn by Doing." This reflects on the way I teach. I assign homework after every lesson and assess a student's progress routinely, keeping them challenged and encouraging them to do better. I love to create fun ways to learn the subject material, whether it be a game or another activity that keeps lessons engaging. Jeopardy is my personal favorite to put an academic spin on. I specialize in mathematics and science, as these are the cornerstones of my selected college major. In terms of math I cover all topics up to Algebra 2. I have excelled at the undergraduate level with high grades in Calculus I and II. As a freshmen in high school I took Algebra 2 and therefore have had several years to refine my algebra skills- their application is called upon in higher level math! In regards to biology I am comfortable with introductory level cellular and molecular biology and topics regarding basic organismal form and function. I have completed undergraduate coursework in cellular biology and organismal form/function, with high grades in these classes. The same is the case for introductory level chemistry. Generally I am available for tutoring sessions Monday through Friday from 9am to 7pm. My base rate is $11/hour. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.
