Hello, my name is Brett! I have tutored people in math(voluntarily) most of whom didn't understand math at all. For example, friends, classmates, aquaintances, etc. and in every case, the people I tutored were amazed with what they were able to achieve, and that they indeed had the ability to understand math--something they had never thought possible. I am passionate about math and science and love to share what I know on the subjects! I use a down-to-earth approach which connects people to the general understanding of math, so they don't perceive it as random unrelated topics and numbers, while using analogies to help them grasp concepts. Once you "own" the math, it's not a matter of remembering or forgetting, it is like something that makes sense and cannot be forgotten. Most importantly, I cater to people's unique learning abilites which is something that can't be obtained in a classroom setting. The academic structure, especially in math, can be very discouraging and focuses on one type of learning ability. I would like to provide what I think is a beneficial service to helping people who struggle with math by providing them with tools, confidence, and insight. Unfortunatley, I am taking Calculus this fall, so for now I can only tutor PRECALCULUS, TRIGONOMETRY, and ALGEBRA. I charge $20/h ($5 per 15 mins.)
